Short description

This is the southern region of Bolivia, home to the wonders created by nature and man. Spectacular sights include the great colossus and messenger of peace, the desert plateau with its imposing Salar de Uyuni, volcanoes, and multicolored lagoons. The valleys of the Bolivian Chaco invite you to taste its wines and singanis, explore the fish route on the Pilcomayo River, and venture into the Amazonian gas fields. Finally, explore the Quechua textile route, which displays its extraordinary color. Experience unique variations of climates in a single trip.

Day 1: Potosí.

Welcome to Potosí. Our staff will give you a brief briefing about the tour and recommendations for quickly adapting to the altitude. You will also receive a panoramic tour of the colonial city of Potosí. In the afternoon, you will tour the cooperative mines at Cerro Rico or the Casa de la Moneda. In the evening, we include a welcome dinner at a lively bar in the city.


Day 2: Potosí – Sucre.

Departure at dawn amidst pleasant landscapes. We’ll explore the capital of the Plurinational State of Sucre, take a panoramic tour from the Recoleta viewpoint, and walk through ancient pedestrian alleys featuring museums and viceregal temples. We also include a museum, the House of Bolivian Freedom. In the afternoon, we’ll take an optional excursion to the world’s largest display of dinosaur footprints, Cal Orck’o, or to the Glorieta Castle Return to the city.

Day 3: Sucre – Tarija – Tomatitas.

Today we venture out on the wine route, enjoying beautiful views of the lush vegetation of San Lucas and Camargo. We arrive at the Tarija churra in the mid-afternoon. We take a panoramic tour of the wine capital. We include a trip to Casa Vieja (Old House) to taste wines at a tavern, reminiscing about our travel experience.

Day 4: Tarija – Tupiza – Chicha culture.

In the morning, we walk through the village of Tomatitas, taste crabs from the Guadalquivir River, travel to the Chicha culture, visit a small gold-producing town, and cross the Valley of the Moon. Arriving in Tupiza in mid-afternoon, we visit the Quebrada de Palala and its main square. We continue our journey to Laguna Colorada. We camp.

Day 5: Morning sun – Laguna colorada – Licancabur Volcano.

Early morning departure to reach the volcanic force of Sol de Mañana, a unique landscape of fumaroles and geysers. Free time for relaxing swims. At Laguna Colorada, enjoy spectacular views of pink flamingos. Explore more unique green and white lagoons at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano. At the end of the day, arrive at Huayllajara, where basic accommodations are available.

Day 6: Huayllajara – Stone Tree – Atullcha

Today we venture into the Dali Desert, appreciating its iconic stone tree, more lagoons in unique landscapes: Chiarcota, Hedionda, and Cañapa, with a marvelous view of the Ollague Volcano. We arrive at the end of the day in the town of San Juan. Basic accommodations.

Day 7: Sunrise at the Salar de Uyuni.

Our final leg features extraordinary landscapes. We rise very early to photograph the starry sky, enjoy a sunrise over the magnificent Uyuni Salt Flats, have lunch on Incahuasi Island, home to giant cacti, and enjoy a short walk through its salt mounds. We include a transfer to the train cemetery. At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport or hotel. END OF TRIP.
