TREKKING MARAGUA – HUMACA 2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT

Short description

This destination is a paradise for nature lovers, a journey through seductive textiles and Jalq’a folklore. Humaca is 54 km from the city of Sucre. The hike to these sites traverses extraordinary Inca trails. Maragua is located in a crater-like landscape, a farming and textile community, offering an opportunity to observe remains of buildings and residential complexes from the pre-Hispanic period, dinosaur footprints from the Cretaceous period, trekking among welcoming people, and their animal kingdom of life-giving goats.

Day 1: Sucre – Chataquila – Maragua.

Welcome to the city of Sucre. Our staff will provide you with a briefing on the trek and recommendations for your journey. Depart in the morning by exclusive vehicle to Chataquila. Hike along beautiful trails and narrow pre-Hispanic or Inca canals, relax, and enjoy a panoramic view of the Virgin of Stone and its indigenous people in an extraordinary 19°C climate. Arrive at the end of the day at a typical lodge in Maragua.

Day 2: Maragua – Humaca – Sucre.

Trekking through the Maragua syncline, Niñu Mayu, seductive Jalq’a textiles, and spectacular landscapes guide our arrival to Potolo and later Humaca. We gradually admire dinosaur footprints from millions of years ago, and remains of buildings and residential complexes from the pre-Hispanic period. After a restorative lunch, we visit a Jalq’a peasant to admire the creation of traditional textiles. We return to the trailhead .
