Trekking and mountain biking make a perfect combination and an unforgettable experience on the famous Plata Mountain, where the adventure ascent mingles with mineshafts and metal miners, a stunning example of the palliri (indigenous women who sort the mineralized rock from the clearing). Descending by bike along narrow, rustic paths is a challenge for every visitor. The route begins and ends near Potosí’s city center and lasts approximately 5 to 6 hours.

Program

We leave the city for the mountain peak. The hike passes through endless silver mine entrances, the charm of colonial mines, and unique views of the city of Potosí and the Cordillera de los Frailes mountain range. While we enjoy this spectacular scenery, the mountain bikes are being prepared for the descent.

A coca tea will alleviate altitude sickness at 4,750 meters above sea level. We descend along rustic ore transport trails. We make a short stop at the Simón Bolívar estate, where we have a snack. This tour will culminate in the Miner Square, surrounded by its welcoming people.
