CITY BY NIGHT POTOSÍ

A great colonial architectural heritage can only be found in the highest city in the world, Potosí, at 4,067 meters above sea level. Time seems to stand still when you see its convents and temples, crafted by natives of extraordinary artistic and architectural value, strongly influenced by the Renaissance style brought from Andalusia and enriched with elements of Mudejar art. Stone-paved streets, balconies carved from fine wood, and the main entrances to mansions display family crests carved in granite. Strolling through Potosí is like returning to an ancient colonial city that lives on in the memory of its past splendor. Charles V gave it the coat of arms of the Imperial Villa in 1547, today a natural and cultural heritage site.

Program

Hours of an exciting nighttime stroll through the city considered the most colonial in Bolivia. We walk through its narrow viceregal streets, its doorways, temples, and convents, its Andean handicrafts at its market, a lively neighborhood known for its typical small restaurants, the admirable Basilica of San Francisco, the deliriums of Magdalena de Cobija, and the parish of the Mitayo Indians of Orko Suyo. We will warm up our unforgettable evening, concluding with an Andean folklore show or in a quiet restaurant tasting traditional drinks such as punch or llama sperm.
